Cat Fleas

When it comes to getting rid of cat fleas nothing works better than a drop on the neck flea repellent. They are far more affective than collars or powder. The medication used on collars can also cause allergies and skin irritation.

Fleas are a very common parasite of the cat. Cat’s often become allergic to their bites and they are responsible for a large number of skin problems. The females lay between 20 and 50 eggs a day which fall off the cat into your home. In warm weather the eggs will be hatched in 2-12days. After passing through the larval and pupa stages the adult flea emerges and immediately seeks a host to live on.

The entire life cycle may take as little as three weeks to complete but the pupae are capable of remaining dormant for as long as a year in cool weather. To make sure of controlling fleas effectively all animals in the house must be treated regularly.

Antiflea products work by killing the flea or preventing them from breeding by making their eggs sterile. If your cat becomes infested with fleas you must spray bedding, curtains, rugs, carpets and furniture to destroy all the eggs and larvae.
