Home Made Cat Food
Should I give my cat home made cat food In general cats are fussy about their food. They scavenge less than dogs and will walk away from anything that smells unpleasant by their standards. They also have a preference for food that is blood temperature.
Commercial cat foods are nutritionally balanced and probably the best choice for your cat. You can supplement a commercial diet with home made foods such as fresh meat, liver, fish or cooked eggs but it is generally advisable not to give you cat more than 25 per cent home made food in their diet.
High fat dairy products tend to cause stomach upset and you should avoid these. Once a kitten has been weaned it no longer needs milk.
Home Cooking
Bake, grill or boil meat rather than fry it.
Always remove any bones and chop the food into small pieces.
Keep quantities modest and do not add too many vegetables or carbohydrates.
Offer sardines, tuna, herring or mackerel only occasionally,
Tempt a reluctant eater with cooked white fish.
Although cats are carnivores their natural diet in the wild is varied and includes vegetation either in the form of grass or the stomach content of herbivorous prey. Vegetation contains chlorophyll which is a vital part of your pets diet, it can prevent stomach upset, bad breath and gas. Domestic cats dont always get enough chlorophyll in their diet and you can add a herbal supplement to make up for this. For more details visit
